Test of English as a foreign Language, TOEFL for short, is an examination conducted by Education Testing Service (ETS) to evaluate a non-native speaker's proficiency in English language.
Many North American collages and university as well as a large number of Institution, agencies, and programs use TOEFL score during the admission process.
An acceptable score depends on the specific requirements of the concerned institute or agency. However, most of the academic Institutions normally accept TOEFL, scores above 58 in iBT and 600 plus in PBT.
Like any standardized language testing system, TOEFL, iBT which is conducted online evaluated a test taker's receptive & expressive skills through four modules-reading, listening, writing and speaking. Each of the modules is tested on a scale of 0 to 30. Therefore, the total scores recived range from 0 to 120.
The test is taken on fixed dates at ETS-authorized internet based testing centers. Most areas where the test is offered have 30 to 40 administrations per years, the numbers of which depends on both the capacity of the test centers and the volume of the candidates.
